Welcome to the 4th Biennial Amboy Auto Extrication and Fire School!

The Amboy Fire Protection District and Blackhawk Firefighter Association proudly invites you to attend the 7th Combined Extrication and Fire School. The purpose of this school is to provide up-to-date information on Rescue and Fire Service topics.

Please visit our sponsors and vendors who will be on-hand at the school. (They make it possible to keep this a low cost conference.) You will be able to view many of the new products that are available. Vendor displays will be open on from 7am to 5pm with no admittance cost to view their wears.

Earn CEU Credit
First Responders, EMT’s, and Paramedics will be issued continuing education credit hours.

SPECIAL SAFETY NOTES
All practical class sessions will require full NFPA approved gear for students to participate.
Any student attending a course requiring a SCBA must bring a department issued SCBA with spare tank and must be compliant with current standards.

Parking for the event will be at the Depot Museum Parking Lot, and Central School Parking Lot, all apparatus will park on East Avenue at the fire station.


The BFFA 50/50 Drawing will be held after lunch.

First Due Guidelines at Anhydrous Ammonia Emergencies

This class is designed for any firefighter, EMT, or law enforcement officer who is has the potential to respond to an incident involving an anhydrous ammonia release in their jurisdiction. The objectives of this class include orientating the participant to the hazards of anhydrous ammonia, size-up considerations when dealing with anhydrous ammonia, command structure recommendations, fire department responsibilities, ambulance responsibilities, law enforcement responsibilities, mitigation actions, and post ? incident considerations. The focus of this class will be the safety and risk assessment that needs to be exercised when challenged with an anhydrous ammonia emergency. As part of the course, a real time anhydrous ammonia response scenario will be incorporated into the class. At the completion of the scenario, the participants will engage in a post incident analysis of the incident and have the opportunity to communicate strengths and weaknesses of the response. It is intention that the strengths and weaknesses noted by the participants will be taken back to their agency and incorporated into their operating guidelines.
