First Due Guidelines at Anhydrous Ammonia Emergencies
This class is designed for any firefighter, EMT, or law enforcement officer who is has the potential to respond to an incident involving an anhydrous ammonia release in their jurisdiction. The objectives of this class include orientating the participant to the hazards of anhydrous ammonia, size-up considerations when dealing with anhydrous ammonia, command structure recommendations, fire department responsibilities, ambulance responsibilities, law enforcement responsibilities, mitigation actions, and post ? incident considerations. The focus of this class will be the safety and risk assessment that needs to be exercised when challenged with an anhydrous ammonia emergency. As part of the course, a real time anhydrous ammonia response scenario will be incorporated into the class. At the completion of the scenario, the participants will engage in a post incident analysis of the incident and have the opportunity to communicate strengths and weaknesses of the response.
